Good news!

Kerri moved to a rehab facility to begin her physical and respiratory therapy today. I got my first text from her this afternoon. It is so wonderful to have my friend back!!! Please continue to pray for strength during this next phase in her recovery!

Kerri Update...

Thank you all who have asked about my dear friend Kerri. I am happy to report that she is doing much better. Thank you God! Her family is keeping everyone updated through the Caring Bridge website. My best friend Kerri is very ill. She is 15 weeks pregnant and has been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, septic shock and H1N1. She was admitted to the hospital last Saturday. We are at day 8 and she is still in very critical condition. She lives in Colorado with her husband and sweet 2 year old daughter Hadley. Please pray for my dearest friend and her family. This is all I can do being so far away is spread her story and pray.

Kerri has been my best friend for 27 years. We met at church and lucky us, we also had the same 2nd grade class. It's amazing growing-up with someone other than family that knows everything about you and your childhood, teenage years, 20's and now 30's. She is mine and I don't have to share her with Kim or Lacy (my sisters)!! When she called it was to talk to me. When she came over she played with me. She is my most special friend. Our memories of each other range from sharing snacks under the monkey bars at Primary School, spending many summer together at church youth camp, our senior year spring break trip to Mexico, Collage trips, graduations, weddings, babies and everything else all mixed in between. I love Kerri will all my heart. The last time I saw Kerri, her parent sent her to me when CJ passed away. I mean... how wonderful was that. They knew I needed her and she was here!

My little sister's husband, my brother-in-law, my husband's-best friend and my children's uncle passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15. CJ was very healthy, worked-out everyday and trained for marathons. Unfortunately, on a long-run with his running partner Beth, he was struck and killed by a nurse that fell asleep at the wheel.
We are all devastated and try each day to move forward. It as been the hardest two month's. Lacy,Brent and Addi are doing their best. Some days are harder than others but they are making their way. We miss CJ everyday and his energy he would bring to everything he was a part of.

What a week.

My kids are back to school full time. This means....summer is over. It's hard to believe. We sure did enjoy our time off together. Here is how we spent our last week.

Monday and Wednesday we played at the beach. Honestly, I think we lived there all summer. Some day's we would meet friend and some day's it was just us. I would try to get out of the house by 9:30. My plan was always to stay as along as the kids wanted too. So we would swim and splash for a few hours. Then the kids would start asking for a hamburger so we would stay for lunch.We would swim, play and slide for another hour or so then Reed would say he was ready to go. I would try to get back to the house for naps, however poor Reed would be asleep before we would cross the causeway. I will miss that lazy day feeling!

Friday I took the kids to Kemah. I bought the all day pass which allows them to ride the rides as many times as they want. Which is great because they love to ride the carousel over and over again. And yea me...Reed still needs me to ride with him, so I got to ride along with the kids too. They especially enjoyed the farris wheel. It was so fun watching them smile and giggle as we road around and around. I have to say Taylor said I was "the coolest mom ever" when I let them have their snack and drinks on the ride. Wow...yea me again!!

And finally, Friday night we baked cake balls. They were excellent little chefs. This was definitely a sweet ending to a great summer!
