I love movie night. Weather it is a new movie in the theater or an old movie in my room...I love watching movies!!! So this night was pretty easy to plan. We bought the kids Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and well that says it all. I made spaghetti and meat balls for dinner then we watched the movie and had different flavored popcorn for dessert.
I loved this story as a child I remember it being one of my favorite books. There was just something about food falling from the sky that was so exciting. The books illustrations were incredible however they were printed in only two colors, black and yellow. You can imagine how amazing it was to see this story brought to life on the big screen. It was a fun night and the kids loved it just as much as I did!
May your days be merry and bright..... here we go!!! We start with our traditional Christmas Eve at Mimi's house. It is a huge family bash. This year it included a jam session in the "Garage Mahal". We ate, we sang, we danced and we opened gifts. Good times!! Taylor loved her Moxy Girl and Leap Frog Tag Learning Books. Reed loved opening the gifts then throwing the wrapping paper at everyone... (it's a tradition) but he really loved the John Deer Tractor that makes noise that he can push around. We had a great time and enjoyed being with the family. Christmas morning we woke up with both babies in our bed. Taylor was so excited!! We quickly got out of bed, placed baby Jesus in the manger and all sang happy birthday (Davidson tradition). Almost all of Santa's gifts were wrapped (Quinn tradition). Taylor got an awesome doll house, it's as tall as she is. Reed got a huge Thomas track. We sure did enjoy watching their sweet little faces as they opened their gifts. The kids played for a while then we ate homemade monkey bread for breakfast (Davidson tradition). Jarrod and I shared our gifts after breakfast. Jarrod's big gift was an ipod. My big gift was a James Avery ring and a picture frame that is also a jewelry box..pretty cool! Christmas day we have lunch with my family. We gathered at the Willey's house again for our Christmas celebration. After lunch we spent two hours opening gifts. Poor Dad, this year it was youngest to oldest...he had to wait a long time. It was so nice taking our time and watching each person open their gifts. This Christmas I tried to savor those sweet expression on each face. I feel I really enjoyed all the traditions and special moments that make the holiday so grand. I hope you and your families enjoyed the magic and special moments of Christmas too.
May your days be merry and bright! Love to you, The Quinn's
I remember in Ms. Merrell's 2nd grade class we put on a play for Christmas. It was "The Night Before Christmas in Texas That Is." I remember practicing in the class room and on the stage. I remember the boy's playing the reindeer had to wear pantyhose. I remember the "jolly" boy in the class getting to dressing-up as Santa. The coolest part ... Mom bought the book and had all the students in class sign it for me. Looking back at those 7 year old's signatures I find Kerri Drenth and Jamie Richards. How sweet and lucky to have my dear friends apart of this memory from Christmas past.
My little chef's enjoyed baking Christmas goodies last night. Reed was quite the little artist with his multi layers of Christmas colors. (ps: red and green make brown ;) Taylor only liked the taste of the red icing so she added sweet textures using sprinkles on all her red cookies. The Quinn Baking Shop also made chocolate cake balls and mint brownies!
